Do you want to make a real impact in horticulture using data, models and AI? At Delphy Digital, as a Data Scientist, you’ll work on smart cultivation models that are used by growers every day. You’ll be closely involved with both the data and the users, and you’ll see your analyses reflected in concrete decisions regarding fruit and vegetable production.
About Delphy Digital
Delphy Digital is part of Delphy and focuses entirely on data-driven innovation in greenhouse horticulture. With a young, ambitious team, we develop digital solutions that help growers better understand, predict and adjust their cultivation to improve yield, quality and sustainability.
Our strength? We combine in-depth cultivation knowledge with data science and software development. No theoretical models that end up gathering dust in a drawer, but insights and tools that are actually used.
About QMS
A key product within Delphy Digital is QMS: our smart cultivation software. QMS focuses on growth forecasts and scenario analyses based on growth models. This enables growers to look ahead, make informed decisions and actively optimise their crops.
As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in improving, validating and expanding these models, as well as in translating data into actionable cultivation measures.
This is what you will be doing as Data Scientist
As a Data Scientist, you’ll work at the intersection of data, models, software and practical application. You’ll develop models that are not only statistically sound but also genuinely effective for growers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, validating and improving growth and prediction models
- Analysing data from crops, sensors, climate computers and external sources
- Applying statistical models, machine learning and AI within QMS
- Helping to build our crop management software and model implementations in Python
- Engaging with growers and advisors to gather use cases, questions and feedback
- Translating complex analyses into understandable insights and practical applications
This is what we are looking for
You don’t need to know everything yet – we value curiosity and a willingness to learn more highly. Does this sound like you?
- You have a degree in Data Science, AI, Mathematics, Computer Science or a similar field
- You have proven experience with Python and relevant libraries (such as pandas, scikit-learn, etc.)
- You have a strong foundation in statistics and modelling
- An affinity with greenhouse horticulture, plant growth or agricultural systems is an advantage
- You enjoy engaging in dialogue with users and customers
- You can explain technical insights clearly to non-technical colleagues
- You are analytical, critical and enjoy contributing ideas for improvements
Our offer
- A role with substantial substance and a visible impact in the (glasshouse) horticulture sector
- Working in a young, driven and multidisciplinary team
- Plenty of scope to help shape the QMS and our data and modelling strategy
- Close collaboration with data scientists, software developers and horticultural professionals
- Opportunities for personal and professional development through the Delphy Academy
- Flexible working hours and hybrid working
- A competitive salary and excellent benefits package
- An informal working atmosphere with short lines of communication and a high degree of personal responsibility
