International Business Development Manager

The Role
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven International Business Development Manager to lead Delphy’s global expansion. You will be responsible for identifying new markets, building strategic partnerships, and scaling our international operations. This is a high-impact leadership role that combines business development, team management, and financial oversight.

    Key Responsibilities
    Business Development:
    • Conduct thorough market assessments to identify new geographies, sectors, and service offerings that align with Delphy’s strengths. Customize go-to-market strategies for each country, considering local trends, needs, and regulatory environments.
    • Develop and execute a clear, actionable international business development strategy that aligns with Delphy’s vision and long-term goals. Prioritize target markets and services with the highest potential for scalable impact.
    • Leverage and expand the strategic relationship with the Peterson Control Union Group (PCU Group) to unlock new opportunities, co-create solutions, and enter emerging markets. Identify and establish new partnerships with industry players, governmental organizations, and NGOs.
    • Build and manage a robust pipeline of business opportunities.

    Sales and Revenue Growth:
    • Drive sales growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, targeting these, and being very result-oriented in getting new assignments signed and executed.
    • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.

    Partnership and Relationship Building:
    • Establish and maintain relationships with key partners, clients, and stakeholders.
    • Negotiate and finalize business deals and partnerships.
    • Drive client acquisition through consultative selling, compelling value propositions, and tailored service offerings.
    • Nurture long-term client relationships through proactive communication, trust-building, and continuous value delivery.

    Brand Promotion:
    • Promote the company’s brand and products in international markets. Create networks of potential clients.
    • Represent Delphy at key international conferences, industry forums, and networking events. Position the company as a thought leader and reliable partner in sustainable agricultural and horticultural consultancy.

    Team Management and Development:
    • Lead and expand Delphy’s international footprint through the creation and support of local teams.
    • Establish and support locally embedded teams that reflect Delphy’s entrepreneurial culture. Encourage autonomy and local ownership, while ensuring consistency with global standards and practices.
    • Guide, mentor, and support global team members to achieve operational excellence.
    • Oversee day-to-day operations of international teams, ensuring project delivery, service quality, and client satisfaction. Develop and implement efficient workflows, processes, and communication structures across time zones and cultures.
    • Set and monitor performance goals for teams, linking individual objectives to strategic outcomes. Use data-driven insights to identify strengths, address gaps, and continuously improve team productivity and morale.
    • Promote collaboration across countries and departments by fostering mutual understanding and shared learning. Leverage cultural diversity as a strength, creating a cohesive and globally connected team environment.
    • Create a positive and supportive work environment that promotes employee engagement, well-being, and retention. Actively listen to team feedback and take proactive steps to address challenges.

    Financial Management
    • Develop and manage budgets across countries in collaboration with local teams.
    • Establish, track, and analyse key financial metrics and KPIs (e.g. revenue growth, operating margins, ROI) for each country. Implement a consistent reporting structure to monitor progress and flag underperformance early.
    • Own and oversee the full profit and loss performance of international units. Work closely with finance and operations to interpret results, identify areas of inefficiency, and implement corrective measures.
    • Conduct financial forecasting and scenario planning to anticipate market shifts and inform strategic decisions. Utilize both quantitative data and market intelligence to develop accurate, actionable forecasts.
    • Evaluate potential investments, partnerships, or new service lines from a financial perspective. Provide input on resource allocation decisions, balancing short-term performance with long-term sustainability.

  • Required
    • Qualifications
      • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Agriculture, Horticulture, Business, or related field.
      • 10+ years in international consultancy or advisory roles.
      • Proven leadership in multicultural, cross-functional environments.
      • Fluent in English; Dutch and other languages are a plus.
      • Strong background in agri/horticulture is preferred.Key Competencies
