Do you want to make a real impact on the arable farming of tomorrow through practice-oriented research? Do you have an affinity with crops such as potatoes, onions, grass seed, fibre crops and new crops, and do you get a buzz from innovation, sustainability and knowledge that is directly applied in practice? Then this is your chance to make a difference at Delphy Arable Farming South-West.
Within our team in the south-west of the Netherlands, we work every day on smart, future-proof cropping systems. From field sites in places such as Westmaas and the Rusthoeve Experimental Farm in Colijnsplaat, we develop innovative knowledge on topics such as water and soil, precision fertilisation, nitrogen efficiency, climate-resilient systems, bio-based applications and new crops. We don’t let that knowledge gather dust: together with growers, supply chain partners, government bodies and colleagues, we translate it directly into practical solutions in the field.
This is what you will be doing as Arable Farming Researcher, South-West Netherlands
- You will set up and carry out practical research projects in the arable farming sector in the south-west of the Netherlands
- You will take part in trials and demonstrations at research and field sites, working alongside fellow researchers, advisors, farm managers and crop production staff
- You will collect, process and interpret research data and translate results into clear conclusions and practical advice
- You will report research results and share knowledge with growers, partners and colleagues through meetings, field trial visits, presentations and publications
- You identify new research questions arising from practical experience and contribute ideas for innovative projects and proposals
- You actively contribute to themes such as regenerative cropping systems, water management, nutrient efficiency, bio-based crops and precision agriculture
You will join a committed and expert team where collaboration is second nature and where your ideas matter. You will be given plenty of scope to take the initiative, further develop your expertise and make a visible contribution to current issues in the sector.
This is what we are looking for
- You have a degree from a university of applied sciences or a research university, for example in arable farming, plant sciences, agronomy or a similar field
- You have an affinity with practice-oriented research and the arable farming sector
- You are analytical, meticulous and able to interpret research results effectively
- You work independently, take the initiative and are also able to collaborate effectively on projects
- You communicate easily, both verbally and in writing, in Dutch and preferably also in English
- Experience with research, field trials or data processing is an advantage
- You hold a Category B driving licence
- You feel connected to agricultural practice in the south-west of the Netherlands or would like to develop further in this area
We are looking for someone who is curious, enjoys working both outdoors and indoors, and is enthusiastic about research that makes a difference. Someone who bridges the gap between data and practice, between innovation and practical application. You don’t need to know everything already; with motivation, a willingness to learn and a practical attitude, you can go far with us.
Our offer
- A varied and intellectually stimulating role within an innovative research environment
- The opportunity to work on topical issues that matter to arable farming today and in the future
- Plenty of scope for initiative, responsibility and professional development
- Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team characterised by short lines of communication and extensive practical knowledge

- Attractive terms of employment, commensurate with your qualifications and experience
- Plenty of opportunities for further professional development, including through the Delphy Academy
